My Red Couch Talk with Katerina Fagetti
I had a chance to interview Katerina Fagetti, Global Mobility Leader at LGT, on the #RedCouchTalk and would like to share the interview with you. Katerina Fagetti is an experienced #GlobalMobilityManager her journey took her through different industries and various countries and she ended up working as a “one-woman-show”. As a graduate of the #MasterCourse in HR Global Mobility at Erasmus University, Rotterdam (fully remote course), we delve into education and how you can best learn to become a Global Mobility Manager.
We conclude that the 70:20:10 model applies here:
1) Learn about the cases by doing and supporting them in-house first. (A Big Four or HR background can be helpful.)
2) Build and maintain a professional network in the industry and get a coach.
3) Enhance your theoretical input and update your knowledge through LinkedIn and other courses.
Katerina Fagetti says about herself: “My moves and background represent the Global Mobility field. I was born in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, went to school in the Czechoslovak Federative Republic, and graduated in International Trade in the Czech Republic. After two years of an HR job in the automotive industry in my hometown, I decided at 24 to cross the border just for six months. My only target was to improve my English and French; for some reason, I ended up in Zurich. In 2004, the Czech Republic was not yet an EU member; I neither spoke the language nor knew the culture and the habits. I became a passionate Global Mobility Expert with deep knowledge of all aspects of the field. I was the process and product owner within a globally active organization of over 3,000 employees, bringing over 14 years of experience on global mobility everyday topics in O&G and financial institutions. Being active on Swiss soil, I have a strong background in Swiss labor law, immigration law, social security law, and tax law. ”
