My Red Couch Talk with Marcel Meier
Marcel Meier is a dedicated global mobility professional, happily married and originally from Winterthur, Switzerland. His passion for international experiences began early, having spent a year in high school in the United States. During his university years, an internship in mobility sparked a lasting interest, leading him to pursue a career in mobility tax straight out of university—a field he continues to love to this day. Marcel is drawn to the unique blend of technical expertise, personal interaction, and the global scope that mobility offers.
He spent 12 years living and working in Zug and Unterägeri, discovering how even regions close to home can feel like entirely different worlds. More recently, he relocated to a picturesque and little-known village in the canton of Aargau—so small that even many Aargau locals haven’t heard of it. With the highest average age in the canton, Marcel jokes that being of working age in his village makes him something of a rarity.
Marcel is a passionate traveler who has explored numerous countries and cultures and never tires of discovering new places. He enjoys spending time outdoors, whether on long walks, hikes, or the occasional day on the ski slopes. Once an avid reader in his youth, he now finds time for books mainly during holidays—though even then, reading sometimes takes a backseat.
Marcel Meier is also a food enthusiast, both in the kitchen and at the table. He enjoys cooking and sampling dishes from a wide range of cuisines and is always open to trying something new. Lately, he’s been trying his hand at gardening, adding yet another dimension to his appreciation for nature and the simple pleasures of life.
